About Electrodry in Ararat - Stawell
Ararat has a long history of diversity. From the time when the Tjapwurong people were the only ones around, to 1857 when Chinese miners struck gold in Ararat, leading to the growth of the town.
The town gets its name from nearby Mount Ararat, named thus in 1841, when Horatio Wills passed through the area. Stawell was founded in 1853, during the gold rush. It is known for being one of the few Victorian towns that still has an active gold mining industry.
