What Makes Electrodry Adelaide’s Tile and Grout Cleaning Service Different from Other Companies?

We’re different because while most other cleaning companies rely on high water pressure to clean the floors, Electrodry safely agitates tailored cleaning into the floor, utilising pressured water for rinsing only.

Our technicians are trained to use far less water and pressure during our clean, which ensures minimal pressure and potential damage to your grout lines.

Electrodry also utilises much safer yet effective products whereas many other companies use highly corrosive and potentially dangerous chemicals.

Common Tile and Grout Issues

Efflorescence

Limescale

Mould

Cloudy Tiles

Efflorescence is caused when water penetrates underneath the ties and the minerals in the water crystallise. It can be recognised by a white mark on the tile, which can also be present in grout lines as well. It is porous, white and chalky in appearance and rests on the tile surface.

Your Electrodry technician can provide you with advice on your efflorescence issue but generally efflorescence can be removed with an acid-based cleaner.

Note that some cases of efflorescence may be too severe to be removed; although it may be removed during cleaning, it will likely reappear once the tiles are dry.

While it isn’t dangerous, it doesn’t look appealing and can be an indication of a moisture issue that may lead to structural damage. You will need advice from a water leak detection expert to identify and address the issue.

Like efflorescence, lime build-up is a result of water evaporating and forcing minerals into the material. Lime build-up, however, accumulates right below a material’s surface while efflorescence will occur above the surface.

Limescale, or calcium deposits, are denser and streakier than efflorescence. Acid-based cleaners are your best option for treatment but professional advice is recommended.

Using the wrong cleaning products to treat either limescale or efflorescence can exacerbate the problem or damage your tiles.

Mould in tile grout lines is a common occurrence due to the high moisture levels in areas like your bathroom or kitchen.

It is often caused by the dirt and contaminants pushed into grout lines during the mopping process. We recommend using minimal water to mop your floors, as excess water is absorbed into the grout creating a breeding ground for mould and bacteria.

You can treat smaller mould infestations with white vinegar however larger contaminations may need to be treated by professional mould remediators.

While treatment can remove mould, it will likely return if the source of the mould (usually a water leak) isn’t resolved.

This is generally caused by using the wrong cleaning product on the tiles. In more extreme cases, a milky appearance may mean that the incorrect sealer has been applied to the tiles.

Cloudy tiles can be treated using a 1:4 mixture of vinegar and hot water. You’ll need to lightly mop the floors afterwards with plain water.

Note: the above mixture is not suitable for natural stone such as marble or slate as it can etch the tiles.
